Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud all scored, as Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-0, to clinch the 2014 Community Shield.

The game, which is the traditional curtain-raiser in England, started at a slow pace, with both teams taking long to settle into their rhythm.

Cazorla opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of the match, after Yaya Sanogo stormed into City’s area, but the ball fell to the little Spaniard. It was Sanogo’s brilliant hold-up play, that provided the Gunners’ second goal, which Ramsey took expertly.

Arsene Wenger’s second silverware in four months was confirmed, after Giroud, on as a substitute for Sanogo, smashed in a stunning goal from range.

Arsenal open their League campaign next week against Crystal Palace, while City face Newcastle.
