it depends on the situation. but i can assure you when children go to high school in america it is not a positive experience alot of the time if your child follows her friends in doing bad things BUT if you trained her well and not to be a folllower and not get into foolish things then high school in america will be good if she is smart. i went to high school in america and i am not that bad. high school in america is where kids get introduced to sex, drugs, and fighting. High school in nigeria is better if u think ur child will fall victim to the akata lifestyle. if she goes to high school in america be careful of who her friends are she should spend more time with naija ppl rather than akata. rasing your kids in Naija is the best as long as am concern. av lived in Uk for five years now , the kids here are very crazy due to type of laws and policies empowering them to do anything. A kid here can just pick up a phone and call the police for anything against the parents or teacher , even if he lies ; before you know it police and social care are down knocking on your door and if your booked it will be difficult for you to get a job here. believe me ma two kids were born here but they are all back home in naija. we might be called bad names across the world but I know we are very good in instilling morals into our kids. Shame........this is the kind of mentality that creates so much trouble and war around the world..........people thinking one race is better than others.........this kind of racist mentality only brings negative effects and continues to cultivate bigots and harbour racism. Very sad.

9ja is ok to train up a child depending on the parents. Parents that love their children will correct their children with good counsel as well as the rod of correction by applying cane. 4get about US culture. Ours is in line with scriptures that says "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart 4rm it" & another that says " foolishness is bound in the heart of a child but the rod of correction will drive it far from him" Read proverbs and get it straight for yourself. Quote from: truelvis on 11-07-2008 08:16 PM where you train up your kids is not the problem but how you bring them up. Children can be raised anywhere, what matters is teaching them the right way to face this life. actually, your suggestion seems to be so constructive ,proper upbringing is essential for shaping one kid's future life. but when considered from another point of view, the place that ones kids live is influential to their way of life. For instance, Nigerian child couldn't be compared in any way with his American counterpart, and what brought this is the difference in the way people behave towards their kids and how they are trained to grow up well mannered of the two countries
