Two pupils were yesterday killed at Ogbia town, headquarters of Ogbia council area when a sand truck crashed into a nursery school wall.
The tipper, it was gathered, was trying to offload sand when the tragic incident occurred at about 11am at the Enidav Group of Schools in Ogbia.
The deceased girls, according to eyewitness were aged 3 and 4.
Leadership Weekend learnt that driver of the tipper was trying to tip sand from the truck when it touched the roof of the school, causing its wall to collapse on the pupils.
Sympathisers were said to have rushed the injured pupils to the School of Health Technology clinic at Otuogidi, where they were confirmed dead.
The divisional police officer in charge of Ogbia council, it was learnt, visited the scene of the tragic accident while the driver of the ill-fated tipper has been arrested.
The remains of the deceased pupils were deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa morgue.
When contacted, the state police public relations of officer, Alex Akhigbe, confirmed the incident, adding that the police had commenced investigations into the tragic incident.
