3 days ago, Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, on her Instagram account, hinted that she almost committed suicide last year. Sources alleged that she actually wanted to take her own life due to ‘man palaver.’ And according to Halima, none of her close friends even commented on her post so she referred to them as “fake friends.”
However, when Saturday Beats contacted the actress concerning the allegation that her suicide attempt was because of a man, she denied it. She said she wanted to commit suicide simply because she was “depressed.” She however, refused to give details concerning what led to her depression. “Sorry I don’t want to share the experience, I have been talking about depression for a long time. I don’t want to have an interview,” she said.

Waaooo. Unfortunately most of us Africans still don't understand the gravity of being suicidal and that is the reason why we are making this kind of comments. If you ever been there you will know. There are times in one's life when you pass through anxiety and depression and the feeling is so heavy that for no reason you feel your life is just a mess and you wish to just sleep and not wake up. You will experience panic attacks which is a feeling that you are going crazy and you are passing through a dark tunnel with no hope of any ray of light at the end. All you can pray is to never experience that kind of feeling in life. Africans need more enlightenment in this area because most time people that commit suicide display symptoms before they do and it will be a great wickedness to ignore those signs. Knowing all these can be great and you can be a life saver when next you come across someone who is suicidal. Please don't judge them because you don't know when you might be in their shoes
