It was all drama yesterday at the Egbeda Local govt INEC office, Oluwo, Ibadan, Oyo State when Mrs Olaleye, the INEC electoral officer in charge of the local govt paid the allowances of less than half of the ad-hoc staffs trained for the upcoming election exercise and bluntly told others to go home that she couldn't afford to pay them after it was learnt that she had collected everyone's money from INEC.

According to eye witness, "payment of the allowances have commenced since Wednesday but there wasn't any message or circular sent to us with regards to this but somehow we got to know and we started storming the local govt as early as 7:30a.m on Friday and took turn to write our names down. I got there around 8:30a.m and I've met over 150 names on the list. They didn't attend to us till around 12:45pm when the names have hit over 350. Corps members were told to queue separately and they were been attended to while we (post-NYSC and students) were been attended to by the ICT Director, Mr Sadiq. The first problem we had was been attended to by just only one person whom spent about 15 minutes on a person asking questions and requesting for documents that were not even asked for during the screening exercise. Mr Sadiq was also caught stapling money together with some print-outs and putting them in his drawer (which we later got to know that they were for their own chosen people). At around 5:10pm, Mr Sadiq said he had ran out of cash when we clearly aws him packing bails of 1000 naira notes, he told us to go and meet his boss (which was Mrs Olaleye, the E.O). Mrs Olaleye was so reluctant to address us but after several protests, she came out and told us that She couldn't pay everyone that attended the training despite the fact that we knew that she used the list we wrote our names on to collect money from INEC and hasn't paid half of those who attended the training. She went back to her office after she couldn't answer most of the questions we asked her. After we refused to leave the premises demanding for our money and for her to come out with Mr Sadiq, She then called for the men from the police force who came thereafter with Guns. The DPO addressed us telling us that we should peacefully leave and not turn this into a riot that he has spoken with the woman and she said she'll see what she can do by next week Tuesday".

It was learnt that this has become a usual habit of this E.O and Mr Sadiq when issues like this comes up.
