A 32-year-old man, Uwem Femi Asuquo, has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 10-year-old niece inside a mosque.
According to vanguard report, Femi had taken his niece to live with him along Lagos-Abeokuta road, to help ease the burden on her family after his brother, her father, died in 2012.
Unknown to mother of the girl, Iya Tope, her brother-in-law was segxwally abusing her little daughter between 2012/2013 that he was taking care of her.
The 10-year-old girl later started living with her grandmother Okunola area in Egbeda.
Femi’s evil deeds would have gone unnoticed if not for his insatiable s*xual desires.
On that fateful day, he had gone to the victim’s house, only to discover she was now living with grandmother. He immediately went to the house where his niece was living with her grandmother and took her to the mosque where he allegedly had s*x with her.
The little girl was said to have sustained injuries in her private part and had difficulty walking as a result of the r*pe.
Trouble started for the suspect after the girl confessed to her mother that her uncle, Femi had taken her from grandma’s house to the mosque where he defiled her. She also revealed that Femi had been having s*x with her throughout her stay in his place.
The mother then reported the case to the Gowon Divisional Police Station, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The case is currently being investigated by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba.
