A former nurse is faced with life imprisonment after she admitted to killing six of her patients in order to reduce her work load.

50-year-old Vera Maresova, now better known as ‘Nurse Death’ in Czech Republic local media, worked at a hospital in the small town of Rumburk, where she gave deadly doses of potassium to six patients including five women and one man for over four years.

Security operatives had previously apprehended the nurse last August for the death of a 70-year-old patient who was poisoned with potassium.

Now, a police investigation revealed that she also killed five more people between 2010 and 2014.

A police spokesman said, “All of her victims were elderly and needed intensive treatment.

“The woman who was supposed to care for them but instead killed them because she wanted to make life easier for herself. The terrible number of victims is six.

“We do not suspect the nurse committed any more murders.’

According to the prosecution, Maresova injected the potassium straight into the elderly patients’ blood stream. All were in the hospital’s intensive care unit, according to Metro UK.
