Agonies on a virgin campus

As students were struggling to escape the helmet of failure, others on a virgin campus struggle for survival of the fittest. Students who pioneered a virgin campus pay through their noses as they face the battle of lack of social amenities and infrastructure.

The government never knows the agonies students experience on a newly-built campus. When my school, the Anambra State University, relocated to our present campus, it was like hell. The environment looked like a ghetto and life was very difficult. It was so lonely that one could hear the echo of another from miles away. The surrounding area was so bushy that one could hear the sounds made by wild animals. The nearest community was not trekkable except one wanted to attempt suicide.

Transportation system was nothing to write home about. Students counted loses at the end of each semester. Soon, the joy and pride of securing university admission began to diminish. Malaria attack became rampant among the hostellers, not only because of its unhygienic nature but also unhygienic water. No electricity, students relied solely on lanterns and candles for their studies.

We still contend with insufficient lecture halls, hostel accommodation, electricity, bad roads and poor water supply.

This situation made many students who didn’t have visions save to be called campus boys and girls even more unable to define their goals. All that mattered was surviving, and as the meagre provision from parents did not go far, those who could not stand could not for long resist the lure of campus prostitution, armed robbery and cultism.

Tessy (not real name) in Room 27 comes from a middle class family. Because her dream was to be an exceptional girl on campus, she joined a cult group. On realising the titanic tussle for survival on campus, she seemed on a mission to make a name for herself on all the trivial areas. She changed hair style every week.

Survival of the fittest on virgin campuses is something that needs the government’s attention. The government should ensure that the campus is properly built and the atmosphere conducive enough to enhance and motivate academic performance before young easily impressionable adults are thrown in there.

Bible in book of Romans 1:26,27 refer to those act as violently inflamed, error, lust, obscene, disgraceful and Contrary to nature, In American parents sleep with there daughters, and the wife will be aware of it, and the woman take the son, or they get themselves a horse or a dog for sex. One Woman got a Chimpanzee, that was the worst I have ever been told, the got the Chimpanzee, and she live with the Chimp for over twenty years, and was sleeping with her woman friend too. I hope soon Nigerian will start practicing that too. America is the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, modern day City of Corinth, and modern day Moab. God’s judgment will start from America. I wish we can see how God feels as he see us doing all this things, while I am not supporting immorality of any kind. (bestiality, Homosegxwality, Masturbation or even discoursing sex in a public). God want us to respect sex. Sex should be Honored and be enjoyed between married couples. Can we imagine how God feels when he see us doing and committing all this sin. In the Bible book of Numbers 25:1-18, God destroyed 25,000 Israelites one day because of Immorality, verse 9 said “And those who died from the scourge amounted to twenty-four thousand.” Please let us see sin the way God see it, I am sure he would be crying bitterly as he see us doing things that he hate, and getting the full reward, (unwanted pregnancy, Sickness, heartache, and death).
