Marketing is the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising. It is the management process through which goods and services move from concept to the customer. It includes the coordination of four elements i.e. the identification, selection and development of a product, determination of its price, selection of a distribution channel to reach the customer's place, and development and implementation of a promotional strategy.

Marketing is one of the more important components of a business effecting sales and productivity. Even though marketing is important and it’s a well known fact that all businesses need customers. Attracting customers is not as easy as we think, especially when there is tough competition in the market. If people are not coming to check your products, you may need to make efforts to change this by increasing your marketing efforts.

Most business owners don’t understand the importance of marketing because they can’t distinguish between marketing and advertising. Marketing has vast boundaries and advertising is just a part of it. All forms of marketing promote product awareness to the market at large not just the product.

Marketing strategies help you to stay one step ahead of your competitors and the following are signs that your business needs it.

#1. Low Patronage

If you have been in your business for a while and you are not getting enough patronage, its not because your customers are not out there; its because you haven’t been able to reach out to them and convince them to buy from you.

Advertisement is a form of marketing that helps you promote your unique selling preposition to your prospective audience. Many business owners think advertisement is about telling people about your product or services; its not. Advertisement is done for that unique offer that you know your customers wouldn’t resist, its for that promo, free gift, anything that makes you better than your competitors.

#2. No Sales

When you have a product and you are not getting any sales, then you need to get a good marketing agency to help you change things. Many factors like your pricing, your brand awareness, your customer relation, your promotional method etc affect your ability to make sales.

With a good marketing strategy, you can review your price, promote your brand, promote your unique selling preposition, create special offers, and build a good customer relation.

#3. No productivity

Have you engage in one form of advertisement or the other and have no gotten the expected result. It’s simple. You are doing something wrong.

Productivity is a factor of sales and profits; and the reason why you are not making sales or profit is because your marketing strategies are not yielding the desired result. How much do you spend on advertisement? What methods of advertisement do you use? What is the frequency of your promotion? How do you capture your visitor’s attention? Does your business have a website? Etc. All these questions need to be answered correctly before and tangible result can be seen.

#4. No Public Relation

Who knows your brand? How many are they? If you can’t answers these definitively, them there is a problem. All the big brands today all started from no one knowing about them to a few people to now millions. Have you asked yourself how they did this?

It’s simple….well, not really that simple. Its starts with an idea, represented by a logo, then a strong slogan like sell it, just do it, it’s in you, think different, quality never goes out of style, connecting people, our business is growing your business, open happiness, melts in your mouth not in your hands, the customer is always and completely right etc. all these taglines are a strong assertion for each brands.

Define your brand and develop a unique icon for it, then create a slogan that will always ring a bell in the mind of your customer. That’s how you make your business contagious.

#5. No Customer Service

If you run a business and the little, skeptic customer that calls you, don’t get to hear that sweet voice of a professional, giving answers to their skeptic minds. Then you are losing out and you need a professional marketing team.

It’s a known fact that word of mouth is still the most effective form of promotion and also that 70% of customers don’t buy at the first instance. So when you have a great customer service and you can persuade people into doing business with you, and also deliver on your promise of a great product or services, then you would have created a customer that generates customers.
