Stephanie Samuel, the 24-year-old Nigerian migrant who was one of nearly 6,800 migrants rescued in the Mediterranean, and gave birth at sea, reportedly stated that Nigeria is the worst place to be.

She made the statement during an interview with  us when asked about her ordeal.

“I didn’t expect the baby, you know, but she just like, she just came,” Samuel said. “I just wanted to leave Libya. Italy is better than Libya and Nigeria is the worst.”

Speaking on her baby’s future, she said, “God decides, not me … but I believe she will have a more good future in Europe.”

Reports state that Samuel worked in Tripoli for two years as a housemaid to save up money to pay smugglers for the trip.

However, the boat she was traveling in along with 90 others stalled after barely three hours at sea.

In the course of rescue efforts, she was unconscious after suffering epileptic seizures and went into labor. She subsequently gave birth to a healthy baby girl, and named her Francesca Marina.

The grass is always grenner on the other side, whenever you arrive europe, you give testimony in church of how God helped you and you were successful in migrating over but after a year you will know that the grass is just greener on the other side. Very soon you will be looking for the opportunity to come back home.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, we ourselves make up Nigeria, so we should be the way we want the country to be, if you want a country to have low corruption, crime, more transparency, and opportunities, then you don't need to find it else where, become that you want to become.

I feel sad that Nigerians have to get to other countries, to get better standard of living, she is right, Nigeria is a difficult place to live, but going through such difficult, even her life was at stake, shows the level of of phycological impart the environment has on people in the country, what are they afraid of, what have they experienced, do they lack confidence in this country. If so it show an amplified level of frustration and desperation, and I think if so, then the society is corroding. People lack dignity, low self worth, lack of mental strength and no support.

With other parts of the world being more organized and self supportive and stable, we are looking out to others because we feel backwards, and it is all our fault, we should accept our responsibility. I feel responsible for the lack of confidence in my country, part of my dream is to correct myself and be what I want my country to be,  each one of us is capable and is a wonderful instrument for good life in this country.

She is right, and she is valuable and Nigeria is a good place to live, and maybe one day she would come back when this country has become more organized, I see hope in myself as a Nigerian, the problem we have is the phycological damage that has been inflicted on people without knowing it, I with sadist in most places in the country, the mind has been made to become poor, we don't love ourselves and appreciate our talents, that is why some will block other peoples effort to become successful, and if people are wicked to others, then the people that have seen wickedness also become wicked and the cycle continues, which is un-necessary. I myself will learn to love every Nigerian and will dream and attempt to help as much Nigerians as I can. Let this be every bodies attitude because we are one big family.

There is so much suffering in the country, sometimes I feel like weeping for what i see, at the same time I feel helpless to do something, then what come to my mind is, what and how can I do something as an individual to create the best Nigeria as possible, may be with my talents, or may be with some planning or maybe I need to do something, if you know anything you can do that may be useful someday to help not just yourself but as much people as possible, now is the time to that thinking, to do what is required to find a way, never forget the affliction you see people suffering, and to do something because one day anyone can go through the same affliction.

Finally we must love ourself, respect and dignify others so that other people know that every Nigerian is someone that brings goodness, anywhere he or she is seen.
