Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been recommended for a Nobel Peace Prize by the Africa Political and Economic Strategic Center (AFRIPOL), a public policy organisation on African affairs.

AFRIPOL noted that the founder of the Nobel Prize, Alfred Nobel stated that Peace Prize be awarded to whoever “shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses”.

According to the organisation the ‘peaceful way President Jonathan conceded to President-elect Buhari deserves the attention of Nobel Peace Prize committee. He may have not promoted “fraternity between nations” but he surely promoted fraternal peace among Nigerians by conceding power.’

The group insists tha the “concession speech by President Jonathan averted bloodshed, violence and imbroglio in the most populous country in Africa. This gesture by Jonathan buttressed to the whole world that Nigeria has joined the comity of civilized nations”.

It's unfortunate that some Nigerians could not understand the sacrifice Jonathan made for this country. Buhari got 15.3m votes and Jonathan was 12.8m, the difference was small enough for Jonathan to have made foolish statement like what Buhari made in 2011 that led to the death of over 800 people, including youth corps. Even Buhari was amazed at the sacrifice jonathan made by conceding defeats and he made the commendation severally, and some people that nobody even in their house are making silly comments here.

If Jonathan refused to accept defeat, pple for die, and there will be a re-run, he will win. Now he accepted and bowed out. Hw many African leaders fit do so? Even Buhari didn't last time out.

I always thought any nomination received for ANY Nobel prize is a highly kept secret. Even the list of nominators is kept secret for 50 years.

Names of those for possible nomination are submitted in September. This means that the names of those for nomination for 2015 would have been submitted in September 2014.

What has Buhari done to be nominated at this point?    This is not a FIFA run organisation where bribe is the password!

@stanfeelin45, God bless you for your sincere comment. In 2011, immediately INEC announced the result in favor of Jonathan, Buhari, who prefers to communicate his evil thoughts through BBC Hausa service said "bamu yardaba! su chuchi mu"- meaning we rejected it, they have cheated us: before we could said jack Robinson, Buhari's supporters snuffed life out of over 800 innocent Nigerian. Unfortunately Transparency International, United Nation and Amnesty International were not inaugurated in 2011, save 2015. Injustice will consume this world.
