Unrest In Rivers State, As Biafra Radio Loyalists Protest Arrest Of Nnamdi Kanu (PHOTOS)

There is a brewing tension in some parts of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, as supporters of the controversial Director of Radio Biafra and Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu have reportedly taken to the streets to protest his immediate release by authorities of the Department of State Services (DSS). Also other parts of the country, Vanguard gathered, witnessed protests by supporters of Kanu were Enugu, Awka in Anambra State, Asaba in Delta State.

In Port-Harcourt, the IPOB members were said to have shut-down commercial and vehicular activities.Eyewitnesses said youths occupied the streets around Igweocha, at Mile 2 Diobu, Ikeokwu junction, Aba Road by Waterlines of Port Harcourt, chanting war songs.The protesters were said to be heading towards Cfc Furniture Company West Africa Limited, along Port Harcourt-Aba Road. At Asaba, the irate protesters were said to have marched to the Government House, Asaba, to express their grievances. In Awka, eye witnesses said the protest turned violent, as security operatives shot sporadically into thin air to disperse the aggrieved protesters. An eye witness, who pleaded not to be named in print, said: “One of our mothers who were involved in the peaceful protest got shot in the left foot.”

Crazy people, him family dey house una dey protest on his behalf and the family nor dey among una, if police shoot at sight now person die who to blame? make una go house this guy just dey use the Biafra Radio dey collect money for him pocket, i done see many people wey done come like this but only for their self interest and their pocket full and once that is achieve you nor go hear from them again, be wise Nigerians

I don't understand this agitation. People take to the streets of Nigeria and shout Biafra. Why not peacefully pack your stuffs and go back to Biafra. It is largely unoccupied. Plenty villages are vacant. You can move in and stop making trouble here.

I love the way you raise the question without insult, well i use that word because this person they protest for don't even know they exist and proberbly doing all this for his own selfish interest, why the protest?because they are other things they needed than that man, No light in the Country, No road, No water, No hospital, No security and other things more, if they should protest let it be relevant, i don't stay in Nigeria, I am in Europe and i see how things are done here to the citizens but i share tears when i see how our leaders loot lots of billion why not protest for that, instead they even praise and welcome them. Think about this but if that word crazy was wrong accept my appology but i am not happy when i see vibrant youth protest just for nothing, some do that to loot and steal from the innocent people also... so sad with the situation.
