Yesterday we told you about how Nigerian parents had petitioned The Nigerian Broadcast Commission to ban the airing of “I am Jazz“, a reality show about a transgender girl which was meant to start airing in Nigerian tomorrow Oct. 27 on TLC.
Well it seems the voices of the parents has been heard and Multichoice Nigeria has just announced they would not air the reality TV program about a 14 year old who was born male but is transitioning to female.
Read their statement below...........
Quote
MultiChoice Nigeria is aware of the concerns raised by our viewers across various platforms, about the airing of “I am Jazz”, the story of a transgender child scheduled to show on TLC, DStv channel 172 on 27 October 2015.
After careful consideration and wide consultation from various stakeholders, MultiChoice informs its esteemed subscribers that the mini-series, “I am Jazz” has been pulled off the schedule.
We regularly assess the impact our content have on our customers and we reassure them that their interests are always considered.
However, we take comfort in knowing that our decoders are encrypted with the parental control feature that empowers parents with ultimate control over what their children view. We also encourage parents to make use of this feature as much as possible to ensure that their children only watch what their parents deem appropriate.
Do You Think It Was The Right Decision To Ban The Show?

the problem we have in this country is hypocrisy. must one watch every program aired by dstv? if u see it as being obscene, then don't watch it toon to another chanel. the decoder equally have parental code. nigerians always pursue shadow instead of substance. non of them have ever protested d bad policies initiated by government that are detrimental to d poor masses. civilisation is still very much elusive to this country. this is an exhibition of illiteracy and ignorance.
