Florence Otedola, the talented disc jockey and daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola who is better known as Dj Cuppy clocks 23 years today.
Born in Lagos on November 11, 1992, Dj Cuppy is a Business and Economics graduate of Kings College, London. She began her career as a disc jockey 7 years ago at the age of 16 in London but has since become a household name across the African continent.
In 2014, she dropped her first mixtape, ‘House of Cuppy’, an electro-house remix of popular Nigerian songs which was well received. She released a follow up, ‘House of Cuppy II’ one year after which also got positive reviews. A 3rd offering, ‘Club Cuppy Mixtape’ was released in October.
In April 2014, Cuppy was named a Tourism Ambassador for Nigeria by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Emem Duke and months later launched her Red Velcet Music Group under which she released her mixtapes.
In August 2015, Dj Cuppy embarked on a continental tour tagged ‘Dj Cuppy Takes Africa’ which saw her visit 8 African cities. The tour which began in Lagos on August 1 also hit cities likes Accra, Nairobi and Johannesburg.
Dj Cuppy is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Business at New York University, while she is also an intern at Jay Z’s Roc Nation.
