The fact that the Nigerian Govt is clamping down on the 419 fraudsters with support from International Anti Crime agents shows that Nigerian Govt has no reason to support such crimes as believed by many outsiders who feel that the Nigerian government actually encourages such swindlers damaging our pubic image in the civilized World.
Any attempt to pay back the fraudster victims might send a wrong message of government connivance with the fraudsters in the first place. the most that could done is track down the offenders and make them pay back their victims.
here is a typical scam mail i just received a moment ago i will be a fool if i follow the trend and when they ask me to come and pay some deposit in thousands of pounds so i can claim my full amount i go ahead and pay that amount and head to britain only to discover that its all fake address and fake people . then i will want the British government to use the tax payers money to pay me back for my folly . right ?
