Bayelsa State governor Seriake Dickson has opposed the resolve by the Nigeria's Governors Forum to reduce the N18,000 minimum wage of civil servants owing to the harsh economic realities in their states.

The governors claimed that it has become almost impossible to pay salaries because of the drastic drop in revenue.

Governor Dickson argued that no matter how hard things become, the reduction of the minimum wage is no option at all.

In a press conference on Christmas Eve, the Bayelsa State governor said his administration will do everything to fulfil its responsibilities to civil servants.

However, he stated that there would be proper structuring and blocking of leakages in the civil service in order to minimize cost.

Regarding the delay in the payment of December salary, empathized with the workers and begged them to be patient with him.

Everyone should oppose it cos its not a good idea atall... the rich keeps getting richer while the poor.... the poor should pray and work hard

That is my own point of view to them, it will never work with that way.
