There is some signs to indicate that aged tyres are at verge of failure due to over exposure to the environment. In an ideal situation tires should be used and kept in a cool, dry environment without exposure to direct sunlight and away from electric motors or other sources of radiation. Chances of failure of a tyres is high when the aforementioned conditions are not met. It is therefore imperative we know the ages of our tires. Below is how the calculation is done

Tires are produced with a serial Tire Identification Number (serial TIN) this indicates the date of manufacture of a tire. The last three digits (n/b: tyres made before 2000) or four digits (for after 2000 tires) of the serial TIN show the week and year of the tire manufacture.it is also easy to identify a tire made in the 1990’s from a tyre made in the 1980’s through triangular indentation after the last number which is not seen on 1980’s tires. .having known this, how old could be too old? There’s no definite period to discard your tire on age premise, however most manufacturehttp://www.automobileglobe.com/how-to-know-an-expired-tire/
