President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown his weight behind the people of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, SADR, otherwise called Western Sahara, stating that Nigeria would ensure the realization of their self-determination and independence.

He however said the secession would be pursued in full recognition of the several extant resolutions of the African Union, AU, on the right of the Sahrawi people for self-determination.

The struggle for independence

Checks by Vanguard indicated that the SADR is a partially recognized state that controls a thin strip of area in the Western Sahara region and claims sovereignty over the entire territory of Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony. According to Wikipedia, the country was proclaimed by the Polisario Front on February 27, 1976, in Bir Lehlou, Western Sahara.

The SADR government controls about 20–25% of the territory it claims and calls the territories under its control the Liberated Territories or the Free Zone. On the on the hand, Morocco controls and administers the rest of the disputed territory and calls the lands its Southern Provinces.

While SADR government considers the Moroccan-held territory to be occupied territory, Morocco also considers the much smaller SADR-held territory to be a buffer zone. The claimed capital of the SADR is Laayoune, while the temporary capital which was due to the government incursion is Tifariti also previously known as Bir Lehlou.

Clap for yourself, Baba! Biafra em wants to breakaway... what do you say? Nothing! You rather encourage others to break away. No wonder Plato said that a leader ought to be a philosopher king(one who studied philosophy to the core)or once who has passed the age of 50;although you (Buhari )claim to be 700 years, there's nothing to show for it. Shame on you!

I weep for a  country called Nigeria. Back home here in Nigeria you have the Biafrans seeking for self determination only for you to say you won't tolerate them just because they are predominantly Christians.
After the First World War, the victors treated
Germany with the same contempt Nigeria is
treating Igbos. Two decades later, there was a
Second World War, far costlier than the first.
Germany was again defeated, but this time, they
won a more honourable peace. President Buhari and other
political leaders have no sense of History. There
is a new Igbo man, who was not born in 1966
and neither knows nor cares about Nzeogwu and
Ojukwu. There are Igbo men on the street who
were never Biafrans. They were born Nigerians,
are Nigerians, but suffer because of actions of
earlier generations. They will soon decide that it
is better to fight their own war, and may be find
an honourable peace, than to remain in this
contemptible state in perpetuity.  Que Sera Sera

Is it that wisdom is far from you or you like wearing this attitude just to annoy us? I wrote in English, I expected you to comment not ask what you termed a question.
