For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication...For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.” 1 Thess 4:3, 7
One major thing that God placed within us at new birth is divine nature, the very nature of God. Within us therefore is the ability and capability to live like God (Eph 4:24). Because of this divine investment in us, God expects us to live a life of purity. It’s a mandate on our lives. The scripture above clearly states that living a life of purity is the will of God for our lives. Divine work begins in our lives when we embrace the will of God. This is something we must all settle within us. It does not matter what society says. It does not matter what the entertainment world is showing us daily on TV; in movies and music. The will of God cannot change. It’s a demand on the old and the young. Civilisation does not change the will of God.
Walking in purity begins from accepting that it’s possible. Whatever demands God placed us is possible. It was possible for Joseph. He was faced with the temptation of segxwal purity. The pressure came on him daily. He knew he was going to suffer for the refusal; but he stood his ground. Daniel refused to be defiled by the King’s meat, every young man around agreed to take the food that were offered to idols but Daniel stood his ground. Whatever was possible in scriptures is possible in our lives also.
Jesus was tempted at all points but yet without sin. There are temptations everywhere. As long as we are living we’ll be faced with it. But this is never an excuse to live captured by the bait of the enemy. The life of a Christian is supposed to be Christ’s life lived through our lives. Christ life demonstrated through our lives. Paul said “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me...” Gal 2:20.
