Confused Pastor, he is juxtaposing the Old Testament War Era with the New Testament's, in complying with taking on your armour at all times. Even in those years of yore, the priests were duly protected by soldiers whenever their duty was required during precarious situations. The Dress of the priest is hallowed, it is not supposed to be accompanied by anything that's not equally hallowed. During certain covert security operations there are Agents that impersonate certain characters for security purposes, but an ordained priest would not be expected to go against God's ordinance, to the effect that he would add what God has not declared.
