The police has dramatically unmasked a kidnapping syndicate and rescued a corp member who was abducted.  A three-member gang of kidnappers has been arrested by the Police in Zamfara State. The kidnappers were arrested along Sokoto/Gusau road.

According to Leadership, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Adaji Adejo, while parading the suspects at the state command, yesterday, said one Ngozi Dabiri, a youth corps member, from Delta State serving in Abuja, was robbed in Maitama district by the suspected armed robbers, who stopped her at gun point and robbed her of  her vehicle and also kidnapped her.

Leadership reports that he said his command swung into action and following a tip-off and succeeded in rounding up the three-man gang, while trying to escape from Sokoto to Gusau.

Mr Adejo further explainsed that three suspects arrested in the operation were Ifeanyi Paul of Awka Anambra State, Echo Chukwuenmeka from Enugu State and Mathew Obi also from Awka Anambra State and had confessed to having committed the offence.

He said the gang specialised in armed robbery and kidnapping, and had been terrorising Abuja and parts of its environs.

The commissioner disclosed that the suspects had confessed to having committed the offence and mentioned names of other members now at large, including one Alhaji Usman Arugungu and his brother Danladi Arugungu.

Also arrested in connection to the crime were one Hussain Abdullahi and Musa Lawal of Tudun Wada area Zaria, who were among the drivers conveying the suspects at the time of the arrest.
