Americans, British and the French people usually would dip a clean tablespoon into a pot of food they're cooking and then put the spoon in their mouth to taste it while cooking or use a wooden spatula in the same manner. In Nigeria and other African countries, we either take a little with the cooking spoon and put on our palm, lick our palm to taste or just kukuma dip our finger right in that hot pot of soup and lick the finger. My mum usually put on her palm and lick it off her palm to taste. She be be pure African.
