A lot of the time, arguments and fights come up as a result of couples marrying out of their tribes. Young folks that choose to do this will experience enmity from the families of their partners but love is usually enough to bring both families together.

Yorubas and Igbos are two of Nigeria’s tribes that have been able to surmount the odds of inter-tribal Marriages. The two tribes represent a large portion of the population and they have a good interaction between them. Like many other Nigerian tribes however, sentiments come into play when they decide to get married.

But there seems to be some kind of understanding between Igbo women and Yoruba men so much so that there is a high rate of successful marriages between both tribes. Some peculiarities of Igbo women make Yoruba men want to be with them and if you belong to either category, there are things that you should know that can help you have a successful union.

Yoruba men who fall in  love with Igbo ladies will definitely have noticed some qualities and traits that made them make the lifelong decision. However, no matter how liberal a family can be, the members would always want their children to marry within the same tribe and would only accept the marriage in order not to ruin the happiness of their children.

Here are some reasons why Yoruba men marry Igbo ladies and have some of the best unions possible.

Igbo Women Are Good At Building The Home
One thing that sets the typical Igbo woman apart is the fact that they are good at building the home and are entirely dedicated to their spouses. While there would be a few women that will go astray which is also obtainable in other tribes, when it comes to the effort they put into marriages, Igbo ladies are quite commendable.

The institution of marriage means a lot to Igbo women and most do not entertain the thought of divorce. Yoruba men tend to go for them because of the prospects of spending a lifetime with them.

Love
A lot of Yoruba men end up marrying Igbo women not because they went all out looking for each other but because they fell in love. Love knows no tribe. When love is on the table, there is little or no control over who we like; Hence, not following our feelings can subject us to a lifetime of pain and unhappiness.

More so, most Igbo women are strong willed and will only marry out of strong mutual consent between both parties as they hope to work as a unit in order to gain the support of their husband’s family members.

Igbo Women Are Accommodating
There’s hardly any Igbo home that you won’t find a full house of uncles, aunties, nephews, cousins and distant relations living or coming to spend a holiday with them. Igbo women will naturally allow the relatives of their husband’s and that is one thing Yoruba men love, given the fact that they have a close knit family structure.

Yoruba men know that marrying a well groomed Igbo woman who is well behaved will help integrate the bond within their family.

Excellent Culinary Skills
The Igbos have excellent culinary skills as they have been able to turn a lot of leaves and vegetables into soups and delicacies men can’t do without. A lot of Igbo women are good cooks and they would go out of their way to feed a man with different delicacies until he can’t eat anymore.

The fact that Yoruba men know that marriage to Igbo women will guarantee them a taste of different foods is another reason why marriages work between both tribes. Every one knows that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and Igbo women make this a reality.

Choosing a partner is a lifetime decision and one can decide to choose a life partner from any tribe and live with her for eternity. Moreover, marrying outside one’s tribe is not an offence that is punishable under law but one that will promote cultural integration and help the different tribes of the country to bond better.

Igbo ladies love and have nothing to fear in marrying Yoruba men because Yoruba's are much more civilized. But in the other way round, Yoruba ladies are afraid of accusations from extended families especially when the worst happens the widow will be made to be alone with the dead for days, shaving off her hair and taking away everything her husband left behind all in the name of tradition.
