Odion Ighalo completed his move from Premier League club Watford to Chinese Super League outfit, Changchun Yatai, on Tuesday.

This transfer happens almost two years after the Nigerian striker claimed that God told him to reject the big money he was being offered from the Far East.

Ighalo revealed he was “very close” to signing for Hebei China Fortune in 2015, before God spoke with him.

“I was very close,” he told The Daily Mail.

“They made a £10million bid and were offering me over £200,000 a week; a four-year contract.

“I couldn’t sleep for three days. That kind of money is not easy to turn down. Some team-mates in the dressing room were saying ‘You can’t miss this chance’. But I don’t jump into decisions like that.

“I prayed about it and God said it was not for me, no matter how much money it was. I knew God would direct me.

“When I said I don’t want to go, they offered me more money, almost £300,000 a week. I told them it’s not about the money.”

After completing the move to Changchun Yatai, Ighalo has issued a statement thanking the Watford fans for their support during his time there.

“A special thanks to Watford fans, who I really hold dearly in my heart because they supported me since the very first day I came to this club to the last day,” Ighalo told Sky Sports.

“Even when things weren’t going well for me, they were still there chanting my name beside me. Though things don’t always go the way you want in life, you have to keep moving and working hard.

“Some of them [Watford fans] were not happy because the goals did not come as they want. I can understand them because I’ve done it in the past and they want to see it again.”

My guy, it sounded like you are regretting not taking the money the first time.
You are finally in China, taking the money.
Stop bringing God into this matter. We Nigerians can be funny sometimes.

This transfer happens almost two years after the Nigerian striker claimed that God told him to reject the big money he was being offered from the Far East.....Stop the nonsense about God told me to reject it...Nigerians and their obsession with God....You were never offered that kind of money before. You accepted it because it was offered it now
