Fufu Is Gradually Killing Africans - Ghanaian Pastor, Mensah Otabil Says

Pastor Mensah Otabil, the Founder of the International Central Gospel Church in Ghana, has said that 'fufu' is gradually killing Africans. According to the pastor, who was speaking at the National Convocation of the 2017 Springboard Roadshow, where he highlighted the need for a change in the attitudes of Africans, he said the process in which fufu is being made was difficult and unhygienic.

'Any food that if you have to eat you'll have to punish yourself, what's the sense in it? And the annoying thing is when you're pounding, the sweat will be going in and will be mixed, and even in the mortar, there are all kinds of bacteria in the corners.

This is an ecosystem for bacteria, 5 years and we are still pounding and people will say, that's what we like.

'It's killing us, because you know Africans we don't know what kills us, the thing is killing us but you say it's a witch because we never identify objectively the cause of the problem. Come to think of it, this fufu in this mortar is not sanitized , what impact does it have on our lives?' He added.

Na wao ! Fufu or wetin dis man dey talk .Nevertheless ,what d man is saying not far from the truth to some extent ,the hygiene factor of processing our foods need to be more hygienic to help prevebt contagious disease .Especislky pounding of fufu or pounded yam ,during the process the processor sweat drops inside the utensils thereby mixed with the food which will be served directly on our dinning table without the next stage of sanitizing .This can be dangerous if the processor is sick or carrying a contagious disease .Our traditional food can't be negotiated for anything else as it's our cultural food ,and it also represents our culture ,but maybe we should pay more attention to hygiene during processing .No food is worth or delicious more than motherland cultural cuisine .Oyinbo taste am he confess,Asian taste am he spoke in different tongue and the Blackman ,irrespective of nationality he embrace it .

the process may be unhygienic that is the fault of the person. our fathers and mother eat pounded yam everyday pounded with a mortar they lived long there is no bacterial in the mortar if properly washed and all debris of the pounded yam is removed from the mortar by washing it thoroughly most times with soap and rinsed with plenty water and kept dry before the next pounding.
