The body of a medical doctor who jumped into Lagoon on Sunday evening has been recovered. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said that the body was identified by some members of his family, including his driver.

The body was discovered at about 4:00 pm today, March 22, around the CMS area of the lagoon.

Fatai Owoseni, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, says members of the late doctor’s family have identified the body.

He was said to be on his way to Victoria Island for a meeting with the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria when the deceased had asked his driver to stop the vehicle before jumping across the bridge and into the water.

Recall that the body recovered by marine policemen on Tuesday, March 21, was not that of Dr Orji.

The spokesperson for the Zone 2 Police Command, SP Dolapo Badmos said, “The mother has come to identify the body recovered, but she said the deceased was not her son.”

Before he finally succeeded in taking his life on Sunday, by jumping into the Lagos lagoon, Allwell Orji, had earlier attempted to kill himself.

The young doctor had attempted to kill himself four years ago, claiming this was made known by neighbours at the family residence of the victim located on Odunukan street, Ebute-Ejigbo, Yaba area of Lagos.

Until his death, the deceased worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Surulere area of Lagos state.

I hope they have these doctors goes through some mental health evaluation every month, to make sure they are still mentally capable for their work. Before they start butchering patients in hospitals. Coz it seemed that majorities of them are mentally troubled these days.
