The Olubadan in Council and the royal lineage in Ibadanland were in the early hours of Friday, thrown into mourning mood as the Otun Balogun Olubadan, High Chief Dr Femi Olaifa dies.
A source has disclosed exclusively to DailyPost on Friday morning that the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief (Dr) Femi Olaifa is dead, after he passed on at the University College Hospital (UCH), on Thursday evening.
Dr. Olaifa, a Veterinary Doctor by profession was an Adviser to former President, Sheu Sagari during the Second Republic and was thereafter appointed as a Minister but without portfolio.
When contacted to speak on the matter, a close aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland said he will not disclose whether the High Chief is dead or alive, adding that the family of the deceased has not informed the palace about the development.
He, thereafter, directed a correspondent to the family house of the High Chief at Idi-Aro area of the ancient city, saying “it is the family that will inform the Olubadan at the palace.”
But another close source at the Popoyemoja Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji disclosed that Chief Olaifa has passed away, adding that, “though palace is yet to officially received the news, yes, he has died.
Late High Chief Olufemi Olaifa was part of the chiefs elevated by Oba Saliu Adetunji Ajeogungunniso in May 2016, as part of his first assignment as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland in accordance with Ibadan chieftaincy law system.
He was promoted from Osi Balogun to Otun Balogun of Ibadanland.
