The United States of America and consequently the world was shocked Monday morning (late Sunday in Vegas) when a 64 year old man killed 59 and wounded over 500 in a mass shooting incident.

Stephen Paddock opened fire on concert goers on the Las Vegas Strip from the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel, firing hundreds of rounds from numerous weapons.

It has been billed as the worst mass shooting in modern American history.

It’s customary after such Western tragedies for the whole world to grieve with them, with social media filled with symbols of condolences. Most at times worse atrocities in the developing world never get a fraction of such sympathy.

African celebrities always join in this worldwide sympathy expressions, but it looks like some people are tired of it.

Actress Stephanie Okereke-Linus shared a ‘Pray for Las Vegas’ post on her Instagram page and people are just lashing her for it.

According to one comment, her action is like leaving your burning house to save your neighbour’s drowning dog.

Many commentors pointed out that when similar tragedies occur in Nigeria, the celebrities remained silent but when it happens elsewhere, they rather gain their voices and start making noise.

Check out some of the fiery responses to Okrereke below…
