Reports have emerged of a shooting at Cape Town International Airport this Wednesday morning. One person, a man in his 50s, was shot at the drop off zone in what appears to be a gang-related shooting. Suspects travelling in an unknown vehicle opened fire on him before fleeing the scene.

SAPS spokesperson Vish Naidoo said:
Quote
“Information also emerged later that a passer-by approximately 30 years of age was also struck by a stray bullet. That man also received treatment at the scene and was removed to hospital.”

Naidoo refuted reports that the 50-year old victim was a gang leader.

Quote
“We do not know the status of the man…we are still yet to confirm his identity for our investigation and to inform the family as well,” he said.
“We do not want to get to the motive at this point in time until we are certain depending on how our investigations unfold on exactly what the motive was for the shooting.”

The shooting took place at about 05:15 on Wednesday morning, according to CapeTalk Radio. It is alleged that a BMW X5 and a white vehicle were involved in the shooting.

Meanwhile, the 50 year old man shot at the Cape Town airport has being identified as suspected Sexy Boys gang leader Jerome “Donkie” Booysen. It Was reported sources say this would be the third time Jerome “Donkie” Booysen has been the target of a shooting this year.
