President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly approved the immediate transfer of former Vice President, Ekwueme to an overseas hospital for treatment.
It has been revealed that Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday ordered that ailing former Vice President Alex Ekwueme be flown abroad for medical treatment.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President gave the order after he received a brief on the medical condition of the former Vice President.

Shehu explained that the approval given by Buhari would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey and the cost of his treatment.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Bubari has approved the immediate medical treatment of former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekwueme, outside the country.

“The approval followed a brief the President received Friday on the medical condition of the former Vice-President.

“The approval covers the immediate charter of an Air Ambulance for the emergency movement and the cost of treatment.

“President Buhari prays that God will grant the elder statesman speedy recovery.”

I don't just know why all this stupid politicians are not ashamed of themselves. President Buhari should be ashamed of him self. How many head of state from another country have traveled to Nigeria for medical treatment . Imagine all the money they are stealing from the country no good roads no hospitals is a big shame

So if someone who is not related to politicians is sick that mean the person will die because he or she will not have the money to travel abroad for treatment. All the presidents are disgrace to Nigerians all both Obasanjo, Goodluck all of you are stupid people

Thank you ! I thought as much , does it mean if I’m sick as a Nigerian the government would come to my support? The unilateral decision by the president is will backlash, bcaz this gesture if can be extended to one Nigerian then it should be extended to every Nigerian .The government that can’t subsidize on healthcare services for civil servants ,a government that have no measure in place for a standard or a conducive  environment for medical facilities for its citizen but would expend the little and already scarce resources on the few oligarchs in the country .Ekwueme as a former vp is been paid his retirement benefit without hindered, while those who have worked and laboured for the same country are being owed pensions for months if not years .
