The game of football is arguably the most watched sporting event in the world considering the excitement and the superb entertainment the round leather game gives to it followers. Players are the major characters in the game of football as many of them like Victor Moses, Mikel Obi, Alex Iwobi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Alvaro Morata, Neymar have their fans all over the world. However, there are some Nigerian football stars who have died on the pitch leaving ugly memories in the minds of their lovers and have thrown their families into deep mourning.
1. Samuel Okwaraji Many Nigerian football lovers are still battling with the pains the death of Samuel Okwaraji brought considering how superb he was on the field during his active playing days. 2. Emmanuel Ogoli The death of Emmanuel Ogoli caused many pains in the minds of many football followers in the country considering how excellent Ogoli was playing from left-full back. He was tipped to enter the Super Eagles before he died in December 2010 while playing for defunct Ocean Boys in a Nigeria Premier League match. 3. John Ikoroma In February 2000, Nigerian player John Ikoroma thrown his families into serious mourning when he died in the United Arab Emirates where he had gone for trials at Al Wahda. 5. Endurance Idahor Late Endurance Idahor (photo: Anchetron) Endurance was a Nigerian football player who played for Sudanese club Al-Merreikh. On 6 March 2010, Idahor collapsed during a League game and later died despite serious efforts to resuscitate his life.
