Muslims in Plateau State have advised Muslims in other parts of the country to avoid passing through the federal highway in Riyom Local Government Area of the state.
The Muslims in a joint press conference addressed by its Media and Publicity Secretary Mallam Sani Mudi warned that the road has become a danger zone.
They said the Plateau State government is not serious about the return of peace to the state and is encouraging the crisis which has claimed many innocent Muslim lives along the road.
“In the interim, we advise all Muslims traveling from the North-east to Abuja to avoid passing through this danger zone pending the improvement of security in the area”, they advised.
The Muslims said Governor Jang was culpable in the recent crises in the state and called on the Federal Government to take appropriate measures to deal with him. They also urged security agencies to act with dispatch on all reported cases of genocide pending before them and resist attempts by Jang to portray them as taking sides and called on the police to make its findings on the killings at Kuru in January public and take necessary measures to see that justice is done.
The Muslims say the insincerity of the Plateau state government on the peace process and its attempt to undermine it had left them with no choice but to call on Hausa/Fulani representatives on the presidential committee on Jos crisis to withdraw their membership until there is a guarantee that its recommendations would be implemented.
