Moshood Jimoh Sacked As Police PRO, Frank Mba Appointed As His Replacement

The spokesperson of the Nigerian police, Moshood Jimoh, a deputy commissioner of police, has been sacked. Mr Jimoh, who many believed to be controversial was replaced by Frank Mba.

The former police spokesperson would be remembered for describing the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, as a “drowning man” when he appeared on Channels television program.

In March 2018, Jimoh Moshood was promoted from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). Three months later in June 2018, Moshood was elevated from Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

Jimoh’s removal is coming less than 24 hours after Mr Idris Ibrahim retired.

Ths new spokesman, Mr Mba studied law at the University of Lagos, and was called to the Nigerian bar in 2002.

He hails from Ezimo in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, was the best graduating cadet inspector in academics at the Police Academy, Kano, in 1993.

He rose up the police ladder and was promoted to assistant superintendent of police in 1999, deputy superintendent of police in 2003, superintendent of police in 2006 and chief superintendent of police in 2012.
