The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Friday February 15th postponed the much awaited 2019 general elections triggering angry reactions from Nigerians home and abroad
The commission sited that a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan plus the determination to conduct a free, fair and credible election has made it clear that the former scheduled date was no longer feasible.
Meanwhile, INEC has fixed a new date, one week away from the former date.
This has triggered reaction from Nigerians, as many hold the unstable government responsible.
Nigerians in diaspora who have traveled thousands of miles home just for the election, others who have traveled from one state to another also called out the government, for this act which has been termed “irresponsible”.
According to Banky W, many had to cancel some important occasions in their lives just because of the occasion only to have it cancelled and probably shifted to their new chosen dates.
