The Collation Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission at Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Prof. Sule Mohammed, says he cancelled the results of a polling unit because the presiding officer absconded with the results.
Mohammed, a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, stated this while presenting the results of the LGA at the Kaduna State INEC office on Monday.
The Collation Officer said findings by him revealed that the presiding officer took the decision in order to protest non payment of his allowances.
He, however, added that he had given details of the presiding officer to the security agencies for necessary investigations.
He said, “We waited in vain after the exercise had been concluded for several hours, only to be told that the P. O. had disappeared with the results.
“We later gathered that the young man said he took the decision in order to protest the non payment of his allowances by INEC.”
Meanwhile, the results announced by Mohammed showed that APC polled 33,786 in the LGA, while the PDP scored 8,206.
