The sentence 'I Love you', is foreign to every Nigerian culture. Try saying it in any Nigerian language, and see how disjointed it sounds. In another fifty years, our culture will be relegated and forgotten.

Our Nigerians parents do it by action, while Americans do it by how much you have, how much you will leave in your insurance.  That's why there is lots of divorce here

Have never seen my mother said it to my father before or my father to my mother before.I love you is just an overrated word that everybody use losely.my mother is the most loving woman I know and she has never said that word but I know the length she will go for her kids and I have seen all these so call westerners with I love you crap and won't even go to a mile for their kids.so please stop that Nigeria parent I love you crap,as a parent you don't need a validation from no one or a word to let you know you 're doing a fine job with your kids, but other people will comment when you least expected.I will say as a parent just do your job love your child by giving them the best teaching you can give them because in the end thats what is gonna survive them through this wicked world I certainly want my kids to learn love but at the same time will be delusional not to teach them how to be independentand and never rely on anyone also to know that this world ain't all loving .actions speak louder than words.

Nigerian parents love each other from the heart, that's why divorce is low in our world. Saying I love you means nothing when your actions speaks hate because the opposite of LOVE is HATE. Actions they say speaks louder than voice. In Countries where I love you is a song between couples, the divorce rate is very high.
