Will first find out what prompt the slapping issue... then take further step from there. Whoever is guilty will have to answer alot of query on my desk. Both of them are my family and should be treated as family issue.

It depends on what the mother did: In the western world, and of course in some developing countries where strange things happen, people commit a lot of crimes that would warrant insult. For example, drug users have dirty habits, they are cripy and they could lure kids to immoral acts. They could steal to support habits, they could prostitute a grand child to support the drug habit, and a whole lot of other vices. So one cannot rightly say never, although we do not hope this could happen in our families. So I would say still, it depends on the situation that could compel a spouse to raise his or her hands on the mother in-law .
