A former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, has expressed fears that the new N30, 000 minimum wage, signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on April 18 would lead to chaos.

Momoh, who is also a chieftain of the APC party made the statement this while addressing newsmen on Friday in Abuja as part of activities to mark his 80th birthday.

Acccording to him, while he is happy over the new wage, he holds the view that it will lead to a situation where many states will not be able to pay and this will lead to industrial unrest and strikes.

“Minimum wage is not a living wage. My prediction is that the N30, 000 minimum wage will cause chaos because many state governments that were paying N7, 500 before N18, 000 was introduced could not pay then.

“A lot of them are currently finding it difficult to pay N18, 000 now. They are already saying they can’t pay and this will lead to strikes. When that happens, the nation is in trouble.

“The N30, 000 minimum wage is not a living wage. What is the percentage of the workers in Nigeria that are entitled to the N30, 000 minimum wage? What is the percentage of the public servants compared to the percentage of the entire working population in Nigeria?”

Elections should be based on who is ready to pay 30k minimum wage. Who's not ready shouldn't bother trying to contest. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

And you want us to believe you? When you add up the legal money been received by the 109 Senators, let's leave chua-chua from constituency projects, NASS budget and the National budget aside O!Let me not even add House of Rep in this matter. It will be able to pay N100000 minimum wage to Nigeria,Liberia,Congo and Cameroun put together. How about the pensions received by ex-governors and their deputies who are mostly Senators and Ministers today?Just one month pension of theirs can change another man's life for life.USA is the largest economy in the world at present, the annual budget of the state of New York is triple that of the budget of the entire country called Nigeria, yet their congressmen are still receiving way less renumeration compared to Nigerian senators who usually would go to the National Assembly and dry his big belly for A.C to blow while sleeping.During the N18000 minimum wage era the Nigerian populace wasn't as wise and exposed to information as much as they do today.Any governor that tries nonsense will see nonsense.

Any governor who can not pay should resign from the position.

Our leaders should be challenge to use their brain in generation internal revenue for their state. They should work out of what the state can produce and maximize the resources in the states rather than making noise around.
It has been proven in some states on agriculture and tourism. This is how employment were created for the people.

l will also say that the FG should not release any bail out fund for any state.
LEADERSHIP IS ALL ABOUT SERVICE.
