Nollywood actor Ime Bishop Umoh popularly known as OkonLagos defends the Abuja police officers who raped ladies arrested over prostitution allegations.
In the video posted a few days ago, Bishop was heard saying he saw recent reactions and protests against the Policemen saying they raped the prostitutes “Ashawo”. He says it is a wrong allegation because rape is taking away someone’s dignity which in this case, “Ashawo no get self-pride and dignity” so the case should be called Theft not rape. He says in this case, the Police men were only stealing their product and merchandise and not rape. He captioned the video;
“Both are criminal acts but different… Rape and Theft. There is a little of one in another #okonlagos #okonrepublic #iyammi #chisos #wosappen”
This as expected has sparked so negative reaction.
You may recall that the actor had once said the roles he plays in movies often puts him in awkward situations because fans expect his TV persona to spill over into his real life. He said, I wasn’t born dumb, what you see on TV is different from reality
