Asamoah Gyan Permanently Quit Ghana National Team For Giving Captaincy To Another Player

Ghana's national team captain, Asamoah Gyan has quit the team after he was stripped of his captaincy, Coach Kwesi Appiah was planning to announce a new captain for the squad to lead Ghana into AFCON 2019, but the veteran captain, Asamoah Gyan has refused to be part of the new arrangement, he has insisted that it is either he is the captain or just excluded from the squad. An excerpt from his statement reads:

“I cannot pretend to be happy…. If the decision of the coach is to give captaincy of the tournament to another player while I am named in the team (squad) of the tournament, I wish to recuse myself from the tournament. I also wish to retire from the national team permanently,

In most cases...retirements like these are always regretted..you might come to have regrets later on...
