The immediate past governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has left the National Assembly after he was denied accreditation today. The former governor earlier today walked into the National Assembly and headed straight to the office of the clerk, Sani Omolori.

He was however seen leaving the National Assembly after he was denied accreditation. This means Okorocha won’t be able to participate in the election for new leaders at the 9th Senate.

His debacle started after he was announced winner of the senatorial election in Imo State. The INEC returning officer later stated that he declared the result under duress. This made INEC to withhold his certificate of return.

Okorocha proceeded to a federal High Court in Abuja where he got victory. The court ordered INEC to issue him his certificate of return. However, the former governor is yet to receive the certificate of return.

Meanwhile, Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, stated that the electoral body is yet to meet over court orders in regards to certificate of return.

Quote
“The Commission will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) regarding judgments and orders served on it from various Courts of Law.

“The Commission has not taken any decision relating to the matter you alluded to.

“The Commission may deal with all such issues and other pending ones tomorrow.

“National commissioners supervising State Level Review of the 2019 Elections returned to Abuja on Monday to clear all pending judgments and orders before heading back to their states of supervision,”
Okoye said.
