Team News
Nigeria
Gernot Rohr has some strong options to go to on his bench if he chooses to do so, but the team that beat Cameroon looks like it could be his best and it would be a foolhardy move to try and alter it.

Nigeria Key Man
Odion Ighalo saw his career in English football run out long ago, but he’s still playing at a very high level and proved that much on Saturday as he scored twice and assisted once to propel them to a big victory over Cameroon to get them to this quarterfinal.  He now has three goals in the tournament, and he could be heating up at just the perfect time.  The speed and creativity of Ahmed Musa makes him another man to watch.  He never found his footing in England, but he’s got bags of talent and has plenty to prove as he seeks to help drive his nation further forward.  He assisted one of Ighalo’s goals in the win over rivals Cameroon.

Nigeria Team Form
Nigeria have three wins and two losses in their last five matches:

3-2 win vs Cameroon
2-0 loss vs Madagascar
1-0 win vs Guinea
1-0 win vs Burundi
1-0 loss at Senegal (Fri)

South Africa
Stuart Baxter only made one change in the win over Egypt, so he generally likes to keep a tight group.  This could lead to fatigue, but it appears like he believes this is his biggest and best chance at winning.

South Africa Key Man
Winger Thebinkosi Lorch grabbed the goal that sent his team to this dream quarterfinal, marking the 25 year old’s very first goal for his nation. They will hope his form keeps up ahead of this match.  In midfield, Bongani Zungu, the Amiens man, has also shown very well so far.  Not only has he scored in the tournament but he is also one of their most experienced players and thus will be asked to do a lot of work in the heart of midfield.

South Africa Team Form
South Africa have two wins, two losses, and a draw in their last five matches:

0-1 win at Egypt
0-1 loss vs Morocco
1-0 win vs Namibia
1-0 loss vs Ivory Coast
0-0 draw at Ghana (Fri)

Prediction
It’s hard to back Nigeria when you just get the feeling they can’t be trusted.  Maybe South Africa can’t be, either, but they are now playing with confidence having eliminated Egypt.  They can double their money and move into the semis here.
Nigeria 0-1 South Africa
