"DSS Cut Off Phone Contact With My Husband" - Detained Activist, Omoyele Sowore's Wife Laments

Opeyemi Sowore, wife of detained activist and Publisher of Saharareporters, Omoyele Sowore has said she and her two children have only been able to speak with him twice, by phone, since his arrest on August 3rd in Lagos. 


Opeyemi Sowore Admits.

Opeyemi Sowore said.

 

She also called the charges against her husband “frivolous” and said they also stemmed from his criticism of the Nigerian president during a TV interview and movement of between $15,000 and $16,000 to a Nigerian bank to pay salaries of Sahara Reporters journalists working in Nigeria, she said.

“This is basically a violation of his human rights,”

Opeyemi Sowore said.   

 
Sowore and his wife live in Haworth, in Bergen county in New Jersey. According to Opeyemi, Sowore was in Nigeria on a business trip when he was arrested. She said on the day he was arrested she got a text message from him saying ‘I love you’. “It came out of nowhere,” Opeyemi Sowore said.

 
Within an hour, she started getting repeated calls from his cousin that her husband had been detained, she found out it was because he was helping organize what she called a peaceful protest for August 5th.

Buhari like his predecessors is a monster and it appears Nigeria deserves monster leaders- people with no respect for the rule of law. I've never seen a nation with so many educated elites of diverse   qualifications yet full of hypocrites and cowards like it’s in Nigeria. Why has no one else challenged Sowore’s illegal detention other   than his family. Is there any difference between Buhari and late Abacha when it comes to the Rule of law., no!  We’re sitting quietly because either Sowore is not from our tribe, party or cult, yet he like late ken. S is only trying to tell the leaders that it’s the people that matters not you. Deafening silence from those who should lead stinks in Nigeria or are all waiting for the Europeans to come and say enough is enough. Nope   their interest is threatened so live with your battered security, hopelessness, helplessness, sedated tribal attachment and small mindedness. May God punish all those who should be speaking for the masses but have recklessly refused to do so.
