LESOTHO

Lesotho started their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw away from home against Sierra Leone in a match played in an empty stadium due to crowd incidents at a previous Sierra Leone international match.
Having conceded the opening goal in the 69th minute they looked set for defeat until Thabantso Jane scored the leveller in the third minute of injury time. Both teams finished with 10 men as Lesotho captain Marepe Basia and Sierra Leone’s George Kweku were sent-off in the 83rd minute.
They will be forced into at least one change to the starting XI with captain Marepe Basia suspended for this game due to his dismissal against Sierra Leone.

NIGERIA

Nigeria came from behind to defeat Benin 2-1 on Wednesday in their opening qualifying match. Goals from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu sealed the win for Nigeria after Stephane Sessegnon had given Benin a shock lead in the third minute of the game.
Some sloppy defending allowed Benin to take the lead in the game and Nigeria looked like going in at half-time behind only for a penalty in injury time from Victor Osihmen to change the game. Nigeria improved in the second half and it was a well taken goal from Samuel Kalu that settled the match.
It is unlikely that many changes will be made, Torino defender Ola Aina and Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu both justified their selections against Benin with impressive performances and Ahmed Musa will probably have to settle for a place on the bench again.

THE PREDICTION

Nigeria came through a tough test against Benin and although they were hugely disappointed with how they conceded the early goal, the way they responded gave them great satisfaction and they will be focused on making sure they don’t have a slow start in this game. Lesotho have been hard to beat in recent games, as was highlighted with the late goal that salvaged a point for them in Sierra Leone, but as plucky as Lesotho are they do not possess the same quality that Nigeria have and the away team should come away with the three points.
