VIDEO: Nigerians Ridicule Elected Governor Of Bayelsa State, David Lyon Over Poor English

The newly elected governor of Bayelsa state has been the subject of some mean reactions online as some people are not too pleased with his victory speech. People were mainly disappointed at his spoken English and pointing out grammatical errors in his welcome speech. The main aspect of his speech that was scrutinized by people is the part quoted below:

”Today is one of my great day of my life. The great people of Bayelsans have spoken their mind by taking time to vote for our great party APC. It’s indeed a welcome development because in our own campaigns, we give to them, when being elected and swear in, we give to them security and development; it is our key agendas,”


Some of the reactions were indeed over the board, but some other people were quick to jump in his defense citing that speaking good English is not an indication of intelligence or brilliance by a person, you can read some of the comments below:

He might be bad with English but good in delivery services to his people. lets give him a chance to prove himself to the people of bayelsa

We are not looking for English experts to lead us but someone who deliver the resources to the masses and alleviate poverty and suffering.
