Student Loan Trust Fund Releases Names And Pictures Of Defaulters

The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), the governmental agency tasked with administering student loans, has decided to publish in the national daily the names of students who have defaulted on their loans.

In the Daily Graphic of Thursday, November 21st, the first batch of students yet to pay back their loans had their names, tertiary institution they attended, course of study and year of graduation published – alongside their pictures.
The list of defaulters goes as far back as 2010 and features students from Universities including Legon, Tech, UDS, UCC plus Accra, Kumasi, Ho and other Technical Universities (Polytechnics).
The SLTF say they had to publish the list due to the length of time gone by with these students failing to make any attempt to pay.
The first batch of defaulters were published on a full page of Graphic (page 36) on Thursday 21st November 2019 and is expected to continue for the forseeable future.
