A middle aged man in Ebonyi State, Chinasa Ogbaga at the weekend allegedly butchered his two children and left one half-dead.
The deceased are; Chikamso Ogbaga, a six-year-old boy, and Chizaram Ogbaga, a four-year-old girl; while Emmanuel Ogbaga, a two-year-old boy was rescued half-dead.
He has been taken to Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AE-FETHA) where he is receiving medical attention.
The tragedy occurred at Egwuagu Okpuitumo Community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state.
Ogbaga committed the act late on Saturday night when the villagers and other family members had gone to bed.
He allegedly took the children into the bush one after the other where he slaughtered them.
It was learnt that the suspect early February this year, divorced his wife who is the mother of the three children.
The accused was seen on that fateful Saturday evening, before he committed the crime, sharpening his cutlass, and every effort to ascertain what he planning was unsuccessful. He was quoted to have said he was planning to use the cutlass for frog hunting.
The suspect has been handed over to Nigeria Police for further investigation and prosecution.
