PHOTOS: New Nigerian Made Military Armoured Vehicles Named "Tekowi", Designed In Ekiti State

A local automobile company, Obasa Specialty Vehicle (OSV) manufactures armoured vehicles in Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The all-terrain vehicle made in Nigeria is nicknamed ‘Tekowi’
AutoJosh said the company disclosed that the armoured vehicle was manufactured at its factory in Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to report the company was commissioned on December 5, 1980, by the late High Chief Joe Oluware Obasa, a car distributor for Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN). Eventually, the company was later upgraded to manufacture unusual vehicles for security personnel and civilian usage by his two sons.
The armoured vehicle was designed by two brothers, High Chief Johnson Obasa and Victor Obasa.

The all-terrain vehicle ‘Tekowi‘ was derived from an Ekiti Dialect  “te oko wi.” which means sandals or boots that farmers and hunters wear regularly to the bush to step on anything. Tekowi is, therefore, a combination of ruggedness and luxury.

Tekowi is a hand-made vehicle with simple tools, using locally sourced materials. Apart from Obasa Speciality Vehicle, ProForce is another indigenous armoured vehicle manufacturing company in Nigeria.

Bro ! I think it’s better to start struggling to manufacture scrap in Nigeria than to depend on the beautifully attractive foreign imported brands.Way back in the 90s the Chinese local car markers were making worse than this ,but picking it from where they left it makes china a great nation to behold today .This is a testament of persistence and unwavering determination to develop and build manufacturing hub nation .Lets forget for now the beautiful European brands ,they also started imperfectly,.Therefore ,nothing wrong if Nigeria is picking it up from imperfection but gradually with hard work and consistencies of good government policy that enables a friendly development environment Nigeria will be great .On track man !
