Daniel Akpeyi set to lose starting Berth as goalkeeper khune returns from injury

Super Eagles and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is set to return as a back up for Veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune who returns from an injury.

The 33 years old shot stopper has Been in tremendous form for Kaizer Chiefs this season ever since first choice goalie Itumeleng Khune picked up a groin injury. Akpeyi has played 16 games for Kaizer Chiefs so far this season and has kept a clean sheet in 8 of them which includes 2 penalty saves.




The return of Bafana Bafana first choice goalie Itumeleng Khune poses a serious threat to the starting position of Daniel Akpeyi. Khune was among the team that took part in this weekend's Ned Bank cup Round of 32 fixture against Royal eagles winning by a lone goal which sees them progress to the next round.



Daniel Akpeyi has received the backing of some of the fans as they want him to continue the good work he started while having a shot at the goalkeeper of the season award. Others believes the veteran goalkeeper Khune has the ability to command and organise the defence which is one quality Akpeyi might be lacking due to his calm nature and so would prefer Khune returning back to his starting spot.


Daniel Akpeyi being sent back to the bench would be a serious dent on his Goalkeeper of the season contention. Many believes..
