There was tragedy in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League games on Sunday as a Nasarawa United player,Chieme Martins, slumped and died.

According to witnesses, Martins slumped after a collision with a Katsina United player, on Sunday afternoon, and efforts to revive him by the medics and subsequent rush to the hospital were unsuccessful.

A video of his teammates crying after the unfortunate incident has since gone viral while an official statement is being awaited from the Solid Miners.

It was allegedly reported that the Peugeot 406 Ambulance stationed at match venue before kickoff failed to start and had to be pushed as player battled for his life on the pitch before finally giving up the ghost.

PRESS CREW BUS was eventually used to convey player to hospital as he struggled for breath before finally giving up the ghost.

Nasarawa United went on to win the game 3-0 but they will be deeply pained by the irreparable loss.







The Nigerian football league has witnessed a tragedy as one of its football players. Chieme Martins who plays for Nasarawa United slumped and died after colliding with a Katsina United player during a league game on Sunday, 8th March 2020. Chieme could have been saved but for the unavailability of a standby ambulance at the stadium where the match as being played. a make-shift Peugeot 406 was converted into an ambulance to eventually rushed the injured player to the hospital but he could not make it as the help came a little too late.
